Between March 1986 and September 1997, I had been to a number of Conventions....but....not all of them in a Costume
At Galactic Tours Convention in March 1986 - my first Convention - I went as a Vulcan Science Officer in TOS Uniform
At KinKon II in June 1986, I again went as a Vulcan Science Officer in TOS Uniform....it being the only Costume I had at the time
At TrekCon III in March 1987, I went as a 'Mirror Universe' Vulcan Science Officer, in Movie Style Uniform (based on the Comics), as I had the Jacket by then
At KinKon III in April 1988, I again went as a 'Mirror Universe' Vulcan Science Officer in Movie Style Uniform
At ZenCon II in October 1988, I didn't wear a Costume as such, as I went there specifically to Represent the Shop that I was Working in, which sold Swords and Armour, but I took along my Maille Shirt with me, and worked on that while I was there
At TrekCon IV in June 1990, I went as 'The Black Knight', having finished the Full Shirt of Maille, including Sleeves and a Hood (Coif) a few months earlier
At TrekCon VI in August 1992, I wore my Klingon Armour for the first time
At Star Walking II in May 1993, I had one of my Scratchbuilt Models in The Art Display (the TERMINATOR Rifle), and was there pretty much as a 'General Public', so no Costume there
At StarFest in August 1995, I wore the Klingon Armour again
At MultiVerse II in September 1996, I again wore my Klingon Armour
At StarFest in November 1996, surprise surprise, I wore my Klingon Armour, yet again }}:-{)
At BasiCon II in September 1997, I kinda....'Cheated' a tad....
I had finished The Scarf earlier that year, and so I wore that and my Black Coat, and went as 'The Doctor' :-p
It was at this particular Convention, incidently, that I managed to buy The Klingon Hamlet (K.L.I. Hardback Edition), and was shown a Phoenix Knife for the first time, and even tried to buy that Knife from the person that showed it to me, but he wasn't Interested....not at the $200 I had offered him for it anyway (he actually wanted $400 for it!!)
About 4 years after that, as it happens, I managed to get two of them for myself at about $200 each
All that aside....
With The World Kohn (:-D) coming up next year (MAN!! Is it *that* time already??), I had kinda intended to wear my *new* Klingon Armour....especially as it's been so long since I've been to a Convention
Alas, this new Klingon Armour seems to be all but a Lost Cause, as, while I can do the Maille Vest without any real Problem, it's the rest of The Armour....the Shoulder Armour and Spine, and the Arm Bands that are proving to be somewhat difficult :-(
So....
My 'Current' Plan is to go as Merlin from EXCALIBUR (no....not that Crappy T.V. Show), should I manage to find any Decent Pictures to work from (Information on what was used would be Useful as well)
I've also considered doing a Full Shirt of Maille again, and going as a Knight, as I did in 1990, or even going as Gandalf (I have GLAMDRING, afterall), but alas, with Sword Laws the way they are out here, I wouldn't be able to have a Sword with me....or even the Phoenix Knife, should I still decide to go as a Klingon :-(
Or....
As I have Indicated in the last couple of Census Forms that I have bothered to fill out, my Religion is 'Jedi'
So....I may well just do that instead
Especially as most of the Jedi that we've seen On-Screen have been Portrayed by Celts....so why not a Welsh Jedi (see Icon)?
Hmmmm....
Klingon Jedi....now *there's* an Idea
****goes off now to see how easy it might be to have a Light Sabre in the Form of The Klingon Tre-Foil****
