I've just been watching the Series, 'Jekyll', again recently, and it got me Thinking....
In 'Jekyll', for those that arn't familiar with this Series, not only did Dr Henry Jekyll and Mr Edward Hyde actually exist, but he had Descendants that continued through to today....in this case, in the Form of Dr Tom Jackman, and of course his own 'Hyde' as well
All of whom are Portrayed (quite well, in my Opinion), by James Nesbitt (who was also in 'Cold Feet', amongst others)
It was while re-watching Episode #5 in this 6-Part Series, which shows a 'Flash-Back' to Dr Henry Jekyll talking to Robert Louis Stevenson, that got me Thinking....
Specifically about *when* this Story is originally Set
After doing a Wiki Search to Confirm a couple of things, and following the Presumption (for this Scenario, anyway) that Dr Henry Jekyll and Mr Edward Hyde actually existed, I now Postulate my Question....
What If....Mr Edward Hyde was actually Jack The Ripper??
'The Strange Case Of Dr Jekyll And Mr Hyde' was written in 1886, and Jack The Ripper's first *known* Murders were in 1888
Jack The Ripper is said to have been a Dr, and right there we have Dr Henry Jekyll, whose Knowledge and Skill could easilly have been passed on to Mr Edward Hyde as they could well have Shared Knowledge as well as Shared Body
In 'Jekyll', the modern 'Hyde' eventually has Full Knowledge of Dr Jackman's life, as well as his Memories, so, in *this* Scenario at least, it's not *entirely* too much of a stretch to think that the original Mr Edward Hyde could have the Medical Knowledge and Skill of Dr Henry Jekyll to in fact be Jack The Ripper
Interesting Thought, huh??
Or....do I just watch too many D.V.D.s?? :-p
